1987 Sherwood Drive

“The Wave Watcher” sits proudly on a stunning promontory in Cambria’s serene Marine Terrace. From the large deck, as well as the living area and master bedroom, one can watch whales and sea otters basking in the ocean below while pelicans cruise overhead. Harvey Beach, six houses away, has a large sandy beach and abundant tide pools and the Fiscalini Ranch, a few blocks further down, has miles of bike and hiking trails. The Wave Watcher is the perfect get-away retreat for the nature lover, artist, or anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful vacation in a natural paradise. The home consists of 3 bedrooms and 3 baths including one bedroom and bath on the first floor. There is a large first floor great room with living room with fireplace, dining room and kitchen, all with spectacular ocean views. The second floor consists of two great master bedrooms, one with ocean view and ocean view deck and the other with its own fireplace. The home is filled with light and the ocean view deck is expansive and protected from the wind by glass walls. There is also a two-car garage plus long driveway. The home is in Cambria about 5 hours from Newport Beach.

Home is dog friendly owner must approve of the breed. If pet permitted, Security Deposit $750, cleaning fee $225 and $100 pet fee per pet, pricing to be adjust manually by property management after receipt of reservation. Rates indicated do not include fees or taxes, and vary for holiday weeks and Spring Break. Prices are subject to change. Reservation is not confirmed until owner approval.

  If you enjoy the sound of crashing waves lulling you to sleep at night, you'll love your stay at 1987 Sherwood Avenue! Being so close nature was also a plus. If your into star gazing, enjoy the dark skies from this low-light enclave. If you enjoy sightings of antlered deer grazing along the roadside, then you will love the short drive to Cambria's quaint East and West downtown districts. But when you are by the shore, you are footsteps away from rocky tide pools and rustic walking trails with frequent sightings of antlered deers grazing aside the road.

  Our son was married at the Cambria Pines Lodge and we rented this home as a quiet retreat from the lovely chaos of a wedding. It is very well equipped and comfortable. We could have spent the week just relaxing on the decks. The only issue we had was that rugs and covers on the couch needed to be cleaned.

  This home is very clean and comfortable. We met another couple there for a 4 day stay and we all had ample space to spread out. The view is the best ever! Wine tasting in Paso Robles and kickin around Cambria, a great past time. We can't wait to go back! Loved watching the deer that come into the neighborhood at dusk. We even spotted a raccoon! On the ocean side we saw otters and dolphins. Just lovely!

  We have rented houses in Morro Bay, Cayucos, and Cambria for 5 of the last 6 years, 3 of the houses in Cambria. This house has the best views ever up the coast and with crashing waves almost right at your feet. The house is quiet, the furniture and bed are very comfortable. The kitchen is adequate but not a cook's kitchen--the cooktop and oven are quite dated. However, this was not a problem for our short stay. Very responsive owner and property manaager. A seemless experience with total relaxation.

  The perfectly named Wave Watcher home was a wonderful experience. The location had great views, fabulous easy to moderate hikes, the home is quite, beautiful and well equipped. Restaurants, supermarket and town are about 10 minutes away and there is no place to rent bikes so make sure you bring some. The owners bikes can not be used. Loved the house, location and deer.

Lucky for us, the weather was stellar all but one day (windy), so we were able to fully enjoy the deck & all it had to offer - an unobstructed view of the glorious tides, sea otters and deer!   This is a charming and secluded property right on the water. What a gorgeous view! The weather in Cambria was perfect, even in February!
  We were able to use the deck everyday! The property is somewhat dated and worn, but the beautiful setting and wonderful location makes up for everything else. It seems a bit pricey for the condition and we would appreciate a weekly rate being offered. We certainly enjoyed our stay and would have stayed longer if it was more affordable.

  This was the perfect little paradise for our family. The house was warm and inviting with cozy couches for cuddling and throw blankets for snuggling. The Abrams Family thought of everything anyone would need for a five night stay. The freezer was stocked with ice, there was every kind of cooking utensil, even baking pans! I fell in love with this house and it's amenities.
  The neighborhood was great, everyone was friendly, especially dog friendly. People waved and smiled as you walked to the hiking trails and the little park by the house. I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed my stay, but I will leave it to you, to find out exactly what I mean. You CAN NOT go wrong renting this little gem by the ocean.

  We had a very good experience. Location is outstanding and the condition of the property is very good. Given the lack of cell phone coverage in that area, would have been very helpful to have been able to make "out going" long distance calls. Given the size of the security deposit, seems like providing that to the renters would be a low risk, high benefit change to your rental policy. Also, would note that we did have some ants around the kitchen sink during the stay which was surprising but not significantly challenging to deal with.

  A fantastic older wonderful home with everything we needed. The outdoor deck with the amazing views was perfect for grilling and sharing a meal or simply reading with a glass of wine. Before we arrived I worried we wouldn't have enough to do for seven whole days, but with oceanfront views, fully stocked kitchen, walking distance to tidepooling and beautiful bluffs, and a short drive to downtown, I could have easily stayed twice as long. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including quality linens and washing machine, and a nice little fireplace to read by. Our young son and doggie were sad to leave. We will definitely be back.

  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving even though the kitchen was hard to work in as the plumbing is so poor in the house and no debris could go down the drain. The refrigerator was not clean upon arrival and leftover food items were in the fridge. I do not think a duck taped food storage area in the fridge is acceptable. The kitchen was described as "gourmet"- it is not! Barely usable is more like. All in all we were able to have a great trip but we will not be renting this home again.

  The house was in a stunning oceanfront location - we found it mesmerizing! The neighborhood was very charming and quiet - no loud partiers nearby which was important to us. The area appeared to be an older demographic, 40+, which suited us perfectly. The house was very well equipped and clean with some minor maint issues: flickering lights in kitchen and living room, missing batteries from remote controls, lmtd access to heat in one of the bdrms but easily solved by using a heating blanket at night. The furnishings were clean and functional, nothing luxurious but perfectly nice and adequate - priced appropriately. Cambria is a quaint little town with great restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay here again and probably will.
