This sweet Little Island cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Two bedrooms and a full bath are in the main home; a small bedroom with trundle and half bath is detached from the main cottage and attached to the garage. This home features a living room with fireplace, kitchen with dishwasher, front patio, and interior patio with BBQ, shared laundry, and one garage space.

  Basically a good choice. The place is shabby chic. It could use some paint touch-up as a minimum.Its's comfortable with garage & washer/dryer plus nicely equipped kitchen. Room for 6 to sleep. Portable a/c
  is helpful. But,the outside entries are hazardous because of unconventional rises that are not marked, especially the front entry that needs to be ground down to a smooth transition and the back door step which not parked at all. I jolted my back a few times in these areas. There was plenty of room and its only a short walk to Marine Avenue & the grocery store. Bottom line, a little care would make this cottage much more enjoyable. But, that being said, I'd stay there again.

  We love the little island of Balboa and 219 Crystal. It's quiet, true to the original Balboa roots, and just one street off of the beach. The house is traditionally beachy and comfortable.   My high school gal pals and I enjoyed another fun summer get together on the Little Island at 219 Crystal. We were pleased to see that the house had gone through a little spucing up- new sofa, coffee table, new tv stand, and kitchen faucet and kitchenware. There was also new stand up fan in the family room. Conveniently located close to town, close to a small beach on the back bay, and affording easier parking than the big island, we quickly became "locals". A highlight of our trip was renting a "duffy" from Bayside Marina Boat Rentals. (Short walk over main bridge to Bayside. Reserve a few days in advance. They close at 6 on wkdays, 7 on weekends.) We also made use of new BBQ. Loved our stay!

  When we found 219 Crystal on Little Island, we were looking for a small place for my husband and I to have a week getaway. This was perfect and much bigger than we needed. We only needed one bedroom and this had 3 (one was an exterior room with 1/2 bath, perfect for some additional privacy if you come with family members). We prefer to cook our own meals much of the time and this had one of the best equipped kitchens we have seen in a long time. It is a quirky older home that has been nicely upgraded but still has the character of an older house. The decor included wonderful Balboa art as well as antique items that kept us guessing. It was a brief walk around the corner to the water and a very quick walk down the street and over the bridge to main street on Balboa. Being on the Little Island provided a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere as well as less traffic. The garage helped us avoid parking issues. The only minus I could mention is a bit of a closed in feeling but we still had a constant breeze and the water was just around the corner - nice benches conveniently placed! All in all I would recommend this to anyone who cannot afford or want to pay the higher prices on the big island. We have stayed on Balboa many times and other than the time we had a house right on the water, we have not had a nicer experience.

  Always enjoy our stay in the Crystal Cottage. But I would love for the owners to update the beds and furniture. The only problem we have ever had is with the upstairs tenant. They are VERY NOISY in the AM and the folks that stay in the back house never get a good sleep due to the noise above them :-(
